Thoughts From Kim
As I write this, the last gasps of the ‘chookit storm’ are passing – the March storm that brings gales, arctic cold and snow to cover the beautiful spring flowers that woke early from their slumber. The snowdrops were up very early this year, followed by crocuses and the beautiful yellow daffodils. And they are now all wearing white coats – a Scottish garden dressed in WNY clothing!
But this storm will pass and in a few days not only will the flowers recover, but also more blossoms will follow – the tulips will poke up from the ground and fruit trees will burst into bloom. Spring always returns in that reassuring cycle of rebirth that follows the dark, cold nights of winter.
For us in the church, this season marks another rebirth as we celebrate one of our greatest festivals – Easter. Just as creation sings its song of new life with the arrival of spring, so the church, through scripture, hymns and the changing of our church seasons reminds us of this important part of our faith – God bring life from death through Christ’s resurrection. We ponder and celebrate this glorious truth – God brings new life from all that feels broken and dead. We are Easter people. Alleluia!
This is a time for new beginnings – and time for the renewal of hope. Spring is here! May the Spirit dance in our hearts as we feel the warmth of the sun – and the Son.
Have a blessed Easter!
Looking forward to seeing you soon!
With love and prayers,
Kim
